An Afro-Indigenous (Full Spectrum) Doula + Wedding Officiant Practice by Athena Gabriella Guice

Every service is accountability in practice.

Reach out. We answer to community.

From the labor room to your wedding ceremony, we're accountable to community & built for generations.

No service here exists in isolation. Each one meets families where clinical, legal, and political conditions intersect — and we take that seriously.

This practice doesn't separate perinatal healing from legislative strategy. Black maternal autonomy requires both. Supporting a family through birth means organizing the world that child inherits. Athena leads a practice built on coalition infrastructure, reproductive justice, and direct accountability to the communities most harmed by maternal health inequity in Florida.

Our services

Full Spectrum Care, Wedding Officiating, Community Organizing, and Doula Development — together.

Trauma-informed perinatal support through conception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — rooted in Black maternal autonomy and birth justice. We reject the clinical default that treats birthing people as patients to be managed rather than authorities over their own bodies. This is care built on lineage, not on a system that was never designed with us in mind.

More than just postpartum care and lactation support, true support through conception, pregnancy, postpartum, infant loss; centered on the mother herself — her body, her healing, her well-being, not just the baby's. Western culture has a history of forgetting the mother's role as the bedrock of civilization; The "fourth trimester" disappears the mother the moment the baby arrives; we refuse that erasure. Mothering the mother is how we interrupt cycles of depletion and pass down something whole instead.

Wedding officiant services that honor culture, lineage, and the families being formed — ceremony as a start of family infrastructure, not just a milestone. We center traditions colonization tried to strip from us, restoring ritual as a tool of family-building rather than a performance for others. Every union we witness is part of the civilization our hoods are building forward.

The PrenatalUp™ — birthed by Doula Athena Guice designed as a guided planning agreement for married and unmarried co-parents building alignment before conflict arrives. You've heard of "prenups," but what about preparing for a baby? Family courts and custody systems were not built to protect Black and Indigenous families; PrenatalUp™ lets co-parents define their own terms before the state ever has to. This is family justice practiced in advance, not litigated after the fact.

Doula training cohorts, workshops, and mentorship for developing birthworkers who want family justice grounding, not just clinical certification. We train practitioners to understand birth work as political work — inseparable from the histories of midwifery our communities were pushed out of. The village raises the next generation of birth workers the same way it raises children: together.

Birth & repro justice roundtables, a global collective of advocates, coalition-building, and direct legislative strategy in Florida — policy work as an extension of perinatal care. We show up in legislative rooms because the conditions that shape birth outcomes are decided there long before anyone goes into labor. Direct care and community-led systems change live in the same ecosystem, because neither one is enough alone.
