Full Spectrum Doula Services Policy
Effective Date: June 19th, 2026.
At Birthers of Civilization, we provide relationship-centered, full spectrum doula care rooted in reproductive justice, informed consent, cultural humility, and community care.
Scope of Services
Full Spectrum Doula services may include:
Prenatal education and preparation
Birth planning and advocacy support
Continuous labor support
Postpartum support and recovery care
Infant feeding and lactation education
Pregnancy loss, abortion, and bereavement support
Resource navigation and referrals
Emotional support and community connection
Specific services vary by package and individual agreement.
Consultations
A consultation is required before establishing a doula-client relationship.
Consultation Fees:
Virtual Consultation: $50
In-Person Consultation: $105
Consultation fees may be credited toward services at the discretion of Birthers of Civilization.
Payment Policy
To reserve a space on the doula client roster:
A non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of the service fee is required at contract signing.
The remaining balance may be paid through an agreed-upon payment plan.
All balances must be paid in full by 36 weeks gestation to guarantee on-call labor support.
Clients enrolling after 36 weeks may be required to pay in full at signing.
Because Birthers of Civilization limits the number of families served to one birthing family a month typically and reserves on-call availability, all payments are final and non-refundable. We are actively training more doulas to expand the doula workforce and grow The Birthers of Civilization collective.
On-Call Availability
Birth clients are generally placed on-call beginning at 37 weeks gestation through birth.
While every reasonable effort will be made to attend births, circumstances beyond our control may occasionally require the use of a backup doula or alternative support arrangement. If complete payment has not been made, we may be unable to show up to the birth.
Labor Support
Labor support includes continuous non-clinical support throughout labor and birth.
Doula services are considered earned through prenatal preparation, reserved client capacity, on-call availability, and labor support efforts regardless of labor length, mode of birth, transfer of care, induction, cesarean birth, or birth outcome.
Postpartum Support
Postpartum services must generally be used within the time period specified in the client agreement unless otherwise arranged.
Emotional Distress Support
Birthers of Civilization recognizes that emotional well-being is an essential component of reproductive health. While not a substitute for mental health treatment, clients who have received doula services may reach out during periods of acute emotional distress for support, grounding, referrals, and connection to appropriate resources whenever reasonably possible.
Emergency situations involving risk of harm to self, babe(s) or others should be directed immediately to emergency services, crisis response systems, or licensed mental health professionals.
Travel
Service areas, travel fees, lodging costs, and per diem rates are outlined in individual client agreements.
Additional fees may apply for services outside the standard service area of the Tri-county region of South Florida (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm beach counties).
Client Responsibilities
Clients agree to:
Provide accurate health and contact information
Maintain communication regarding labor and care updates
Inform the doula when labor begins or significant changes occur
Maintain respectful communication and boundaries
Termination of Services
Birthers of Civilization reserves the right to terminate services if safety concerns arise, boundaries are repeatedly violated, payments remain outstanding, or circumstances prevent safe and ethical service delivery.
Policy Changes
Policies may be updated periodically. The version in effect at the time of contract execution shall govern the client relationship unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Full Spectrum Doula Services Disclaimer
